The Board of Directors and the CEO of Krinova, Ulrika Hasselgren, have jointly decided to end their collaboration. The decision is based on differing views regarding how the organisation is best led. Following an open and respectful dialogue, both the Board and the CEO have concluded that it is difficult to reconcile these perspectives in a way that provides the clarity and direction the organisation requires. Dapibuset is developing a technology that enables local production of a protein-rich alternative to soy. Using advanced fermentation, farmers and producers such as bakeries can turn surplus crops and by-products into sustainable protein – directly on their own farms or in their facilities.

It has been just over ten years since Krinova organised the Food Hack innovation competition for the first time. Back in September 2014, it was not only Krinova’s premiere but also one of the very first Food Hacks in Europe. The ambition to shape the sustainable food systems of the future still runs through the competition today. Now we are handing the event over to Kristianstad University.
I’ve just come from Krinova’s annual summer lunch – a much-appreciated tradition for our companies, partners, owners and friends in the network. The plan was to gather outdoors in the sunshine, but the rain had other ideas. Instead, we met at Torget in the heart of the building, our former tank garage, which this time became the setting for our summer lunch.
Foodtel, Re:Meat, Franka Drinks and Seatrients are now making an official exit from Krinova’s food incubator. During their time in the programme, the four companies have sharpened their business models, raised capital, established strategic collaborations and partnerships, and secured a foothold in the market. “The companies now leaving Krinova’s incubator are true role models. They are clear examples of how today’s innovators grow into tomorrow’s entrepreneurs.”
The Scanian beverage house Franka has, quite literally, placed itself at the heart of this wonderful feeling. Their two non-alcoholic aperitifs with a Nordic touch in spring 2025 won gold at the world’s largest competition for non-alcoholic beverages. The journey began in the summer of 2020 – and Krinova was the first place they turned to.
The recent crisis in the egg industry has highlighted the importance of robust and sustainable solutions for food production. When traditional supply chains are under pressure, alternative and less vulnerable systems become crucial. Malmö-based Angry Camel, one of the companies in Krinova’s incubator, has taken on this challenge by developing an innovative chickpea-based alternative to egg whites.
Every year, more than half a billion tonnes of food are wasted unnecessarily – often due to broken cold chains. Jacob Petersson and Nazih Hazime wanted to change that. With their digital platform Foodtel, they help the food industry reduce waste, save money and make more sustainable choices. Along the way, Krinova has been a key partner – from the early stages of business development to building the connections that enabled international expansion.
Krinova’s mission is not to generate profit but to create competitiveness and sustainable growth for the companies it supports. In 2023*, a total of 570 new jobs were created within the 350 companies that received support from Krinova. Growth, measured in revenue, has increased by 57% over the past five years.
Krinova Incubator & Science Park has once again been recognized by Vinnova and designated as one of Sweden’s excellence incubators for the period 2025–2029. As Sweden’s only incubator with a dedicated food profile, Krinova welcomes companies from across the country and plays a key role in developing the future food sector, spanning the entire value chain from soil to soil.
Krinova Incubator & Science Park has appointed Ulrika Hasselgren as its new Chief Executive Officer. Ulrika has spent over 20 years in the finance industry as an entrepreneur, CEO, and leader in both Sweden and internationally. She founded and was the CEO of Ethix SRI Advisors, served as Global Head of Sustainable Investments at Danske Bank, and held the role of Head of Sustainability at the Coeli Group. Ulrika will assume her new role as CEO of Krinova on January 10, 2025.
On 3 October 2024, Kristianstad will become the hub for food innovation and sustainability as Krinova hosts the international conference Spot on Food. This year’s theme is “Resilient Food Systems,” a topic more crucial than ever before. The theme will be explored through three key perspectives: entrepreneurship, diversity, and preparedness.
