Smart methods for sustainability in incubator companies

Many incubators see the benefits of working with sustainability in a more systematic way, but do not really know how to go about it. Lack of knowledge, time and resources is usually the reason. In this project, SMEs can get help with concrete tools, practical support, and increased knowledge about sustainability. The project will result in a practical toolbox for kicking off sustainability work in incubator companies.

About half of those working with sustainability lack internal policy documents, and fewer than one out of three evaluate the effects of their sustainability work. Among the companies that do not carry out any sustainability work at all, more than half are small enterprises with fewer than four employees.

The project will result in the creation of common and smart processes, methods and tools that can be used as practical and user-friendly support for sustainability work, while also generating concrete results.

Companies can easily move from word to deed, and thanks to collaboration with other innovation environments, the tools and methods are spread and more sustainable entrepreneurship is created. The companies in the network can contribute to national and global sustainability goals, while at the same time taking advantage of market benefits.

The goal is for Swedish incubator companies to become even more competitive by integrating sustainability in their operations, thus contributing to achievement of the global sustainability goals in Agenda 2030.
